How to use the food wheel
- Pick a quick list above the entry box: Dinner ideas, Takeaway night, Cook at home, Breakfast or Snack time.
- Change anything you like. Delete foods you never eat and add the ones you love.
- Press Spin and go with what the wheel says.
Tip: save your own version from the Saved tab. The next time dinner talk stalls, it is two taps away.
Make a wheel that fits your home
The best food wheel is built from meals you can actually make or order. Spend five minutes on it once:
- List your household’s ten favourite dinners.
- Add a few easy backup meals for busy nights.
- Add one or two dishes you have been meaning to try.
- Remove anything that needs ingredients you rarely have.
Now the wheel can only pick a meal that works for you.
Rules that keep everyone happy
Agree on the rules before you spin, so nobody argues afterwards:
- One skip each per week. Use it wisely.
- Spin again only if the meal is truly impossible tonight, such as when a key ingredient is missing.
- Whoever did not choose last time gets to press Spin this time.
Plan a whole week in one go
At the weekend, spin seven times and press Remove this entry after each result, so no meal repeats. You now have a dinner plan for the week, and the Results tab lists it in order. Copy it and use it as the start of your shopping list. If a day is already busy, with a party or a late practice, add a quick option like “Leftovers” or “Sandwich night” for that day.
Eat a wider range of food
A wheel is a simple way to break out of the same three meals. Add an entry called “Something new”, and when it comes up, cook a recipe you have never tried. Or make a wheel of world cuisines and work through it, one dish at a time. The country wheel works well for this too.
For takeaway nights
Load Takeaway night and edit it to match the places near you. If one place is a firm favourite, add it twice so it comes up more often. Remove any place that is closed tonight before you spin.
Lunchboxes and snacks
Parents can use the Snack time list for lunchbox ideas, or build a wheel of healthy snacks with their children so the kids feel part of the choice. Children love pressing Spin, and they are often happier to eat something they “won”.
