How to use the prize wheel

  1. Type your prizes into the entry box, one on each line. The wheel adds a slice for each line as you type.
  2. Give the wheel a title if you like, such as "Friday rewards".
  3. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl + Enter.
  4. The pop-up shows the prize. If that was the last one, press "Remove this entry" so it cannot come up again.

The wheel starts empty and only ever shows the prizes you add. Your last list stays in this browser, so you do not have to type it again next time.

Make some prizes rarer

Every slice has the same chance of being picked. To make a prize rarer, list the other prizes more often. For example, put "Sticker" on the wheel four times and "Big prize" once. Now a sticker is four times as likely as the big prize. Use Shuffle to mix the slices up, so the same prize is not bunched together on the wheel.

You can also add slices like "Try again" or "Spin twice" to make the game last longer.

Ideas for prizes

  • In class: rewards that cost nothing, like choosing the class song, five extra minutes of break, or sitting in a special seat for a day.
  • At home: treats for finished chores, such as picking the film or choosing dinner.
  • At events and stalls: small giveaways, discount codes for your shop, or a free drink at the counter.
  • At parties: party bag items, a turn at a game, or a funny forfeit for the person who spun.
  • At work: team rewards, like an early finish on Friday or first pick of the lunch spot.

Running the wheel for a crowd

Press Full screen to show a large wheel and large result text on a laptop, a TV or a projector. Turn the sound on for a tick as each slice passes and a short tune at the end. Every result goes into the Results tab with the time, so you can check who won what at the end of the day.

Save your prize lists

If you use different prizes for different groups, save each list. Open the Saved tab, type a name such as "Year 5 rewards", and press Save. Load it again any time from the same browser. To use the same wheel on another device, press Share link and open the link there.

Fair and free

The wheel picks with your browser's secure random numbers, so every slice has exactly the same chance. It is for free prizes and fun, and it has no way to take payments. Drawing names for prizes instead? Use the raffle wheel.

Questions people ask

How do I make a prize wheel?

Type your prizes into the entry box, one per line, and the wheel builds itself as you type. Then press Spin.

How do I make one prize harder to win?

List the common prizes more than once and the rare prize only once. A prize listed three times is three times as likely as a prize listed once.

What if I run out of a prize?

When the last one is gone, press "Remove this entry" after it is won. That prize leaves the wheel, and you can undo it if you change your mind.

Can I add a "Try again" slice?

Yes. Type "Try again" on its own line. Add it more than once if you want it to come up more often.

Will my prize list be saved?

Yes. Your last list is kept in this browser, so it is there next time you open the page. To keep several lists, name and save each one in the Saved tab.

Can I use the prize wheel at a stall or booth?

Yes. Press Full screen to show a big wheel on a laptop or a TV. The wheel is for free prizes and has no way to take payments.
